Regional Assistant for Maree Todd MSP
Salary: £29,335 – £36,012 per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week
Location: Remote (Highlands & Islands based)
Maree Todd MSP is looking for a Regional Assistant to join her office. This postholder will act as a key point of contact for constituents, managing enquiries and casework.
This role will involve regular travel across the region, supporting Maree in her regional activities and ensuring a responsive and effective presence for constituents across the Highlands & Islands.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative support within the regional office, acting as a first point of contact for constituents across the Highlands & Islands
- Support the delivery of services across a diverse geographical area, ensuring consistent and responsive engagement with communities throughout the region
- Manage a high volume of incoming correspondence, ensuring enquiries are handled professionally, sensitively and within agreed timescales
- Coordinate, track and monitor casework across the region, ensuring issues are progressed effectively and resolved in a timely manner
- Draft clear and accurate written correspondence on behalf of the member
- Maintain accurate casework and office records, ensuring effective and accessible filing systems to support regional and parliamentary work
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with data protection legislation and GDPR requirements, maintaining strict confidentiality at all times
- Provide day-to-day administrative and secretarial assistance to support regional activities
Requirements
- Have excellent written, verbal and IT skills with accurate attention to detail
- Have a flexible and adaptable approach, being able to use good judgement and work on own initiative.
- Dependable and willing to travel across the region regularly to support regional activities, this may include weekend work
- Be well organised with the ability to prioritise competing workloads
- Ability to work effectively as part of a small team
- Be empathetic with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
- Be acutely aware of the responsibility of representing those unable to do so themselves in certain situations
- Have a natural interest in helping people with a curiosity to probe for further information where required
- Be a proactive problem solver with the motivation and resilience to adapt and deal with challenges
- Full UK Driving License
Desirable
- Casework experience
- Knowledge and understanding of local and national political issues

MSPs are employers in their own right. All MSP staff are required to be security vetted in line with HM Government (HMG) Personnel Security Controls and any employment cannot begin until security clearance has been granted. MSPs will also carry out other pre-employment checks including eligibility to work in the UK, and employment references where applicable.
