Caseworker/Admin Assistant for Maree Todd MSP
Job description
Salary: £25,085- £32,497 FTE
Hours: 21 hours per week
Location: Hybrid (remote/Holyrood)
Maree Todd MSP is looking for a Caseworker/Admin Assistant to join her office. This role will focus on delivering high-quality casework and administrative support, acting as a key point of contact for constituents and managing enquiries in a professional and timely manner. The postholder will be expected to attend Holyrood on a weekly basis, providing first-hand support to Maree in Parliament.
Responsibilities
- Carrying out general office administration and acting as front of office for enquiries
- Supporting with keeping casework up to date and responding to public enquiries
- Keeping cases up to date by tracking, logging and recognising when to escalate issues within team
- Meeting constituents on a wide range of issues, including those of a sensitive nature and escalating accordingly
- Advocating on constituent’s behalf with relevant bodies to resolve matters
- Reviewing constituent records and documentation in line with casework GDPR requirements
- Gathering and distributing valuable data that supports my activities
- Obtaining and compiling relevant research documents from external bodies
- Preparing and delivering regular briefings and updates
- Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders
- Responding to all incoming correspondence while professionally managing each enquiry within agreed timescales
- Drafting written correspondence such as letters
- Maintaining office records and compliance with data protection
- Ensuring administrative and secretarial support is provided
Requirements
- Have excellent written, verbal and IT skills with accurate attention to detail
- Be empathetic with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders
- Ability to work effectively as part of a small team
- Dependable and willing to travel to Holyrood on a weekly basis
- Have a flexible and adaptable approach, being able to use good judgement and work on own initiative
- Be well organised with the ability to prioritise competing workloads.
- Be a proactive problem solver with the motivation and resilience to adapt and deal with challenges
Desirable
- Casework and admin experience
- Knowledge and understanding of local and national political issues

Interviews are expected to take place on Monday the 7th and Monday the 14th of September.
MSPs are employers in their own right. All MSP staff are required to be security vetted in line with HM Government (HMG) Personnel Security Controls and any employment cannot begin until security clearance has been granted. MSPs will also carry out other pre-employment checks including eligibility to work in the UK, and employment references where applicable.
