The Week in Review: 30 Nov – 6 Dec

As we enter the final stretch of the election campaign, the SNP have been busy working for every vote the length and breadth of the country. This week we celebrated St Andrew’s Day, took part TV in debates, and launched our brand new election bus. Here’s a roundup of all the latest news.

📍 On Saturday Nicola Sturgeon was celebrating St Andrew’s Day in St Andrews. She highlighted the need for people to vote SNP to escape Brexit, lock the Tories out of Downing Street, and give Scotland a choice over its future.

📍 On Sunday night Nicola Sturgeon was on the ITV leaders’ debate where she laid out the SNP’s key priorities for the election on 12 December.

📍 On Monday Nicola Sturgeon was on BBC Breakfast where she set out the moral case for getting rid of trident – a position now abandoned by Labour.

📍 Later, Nicola Sturgeon was answering questions of Radio 5 Live. Here’s how she responded to the question ‘Why is remaining in EU beneficial to Scotland?’

📍 That same day the SNP released new video explaining how only the SNP can stop the Tories in Scotland. The SNP is the main contender in every one of the Tories’ 13 Scottish seats.

📍 A senior fishing industry boss in the north-east encouraged people to vote SNP, saying the Tories had no “credible vision” for the future of the industry.

📍 Jamie Szymkowiak, co-convener of the SNP Disabled Member’s Group, explained what’s at stake for disabled people at this general election.

📍 That evening Nicola Sturgeon took part in the STV Scottish leaders debate, highlighting the importance of voting SNP to defeat the Tories in Scotland.

📍 Nicola Sturgeon challenged the LibDem’s Willie Rennie on their record in government in coalition with the Tories, where they supported the worst of Tory austerity and punitive measures like the bedroom tax.

📍 On Thursday we launched our SNP election bus, which is due to travel all over Scotland in the final week of the campaign.

📍 That night the first stop was in Crieff, where Nicola Sturgeon was supporting SNP candidate John Nicolson.

📍 And the SNP’s Ian Blackford appeared on BBC Question Time, where he took apart the Tories’ disastrous record on pensions.

📍 On Friday we released this video from the first day of the SNP tour. Nicola Sturgeon highlighted the SNP’s key messages at this election: escape Brexit, lock the Tories out of power, and give Scotland a choice about its future.
