The people of Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch & Strathspey, elected Drew as their Member of Parliament in May 2015, in 2017 and again in 2019.
Drew is the SNP’s Westminster Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs. He previously served as SNP Westminster Spokesperson on Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, and before that, he was the Spokesperson on Transport.
Prior to his election to Westminster, Drew was the Councillor for Aird and Loch Ness, Leader of the SNP Highland Council group (2011-2015), and Leader of the Highland Council (2012-2015).
As Council Leader, Drew oversaw the implementation of the Living Wage at the Highland Council, the introduction of localised committees, and was a key architect of the £315M Inverness City Region Deal.
Before entering political life, Drew worked across retail and business, and founded Inverness-based teclan Ltd, the first private sector company in Inverness to commit to paying all staff the Living Wage.
Drew is passionate about social mobility and works closely with third sector organisations in his constituency to tackle poverty and isolation. He has campaigned against the rollout of Universal Credit, since Inverness was made a pilot area for the controversial social security system in 2013.
He also chairs the All Party Parliamentary Group on Terminal Illness and works closely with Marie Curie and other charities to give voice to families living with a terminal illness diagnosis.
Drew is also an Ambassador for Inverness Women’s Aid and has been the Honorary Consul to Embassy of Romania since 2012. In 2017, he was presented with the National Order for Faithful Service of the Rank of Knight by the Ambassador of Romania, in recognition of his work as Honorary Consul to Romania (Highlands and Islands).
