Tory-DUP deal: what it means for Scotland

The Tories and the DUP have today signed a deal to allow Theresa May to cling to power.

Here’s what you need to know about the backroom Tory-DUP deal.

The deal will mean an extra £1 billion of extra funding for Northern Ireland on infrastructure, health and education – yet not a penny more for Scotland.

The Scottish Secretary, David Mundell, previously said that additional funding for Northern Ireland would mean “appropriate funding” for Scotland.

The deal has shown that the new Scottish Tory MPs have no authority and no influence in Downing Street.

Ruth Davidson has even lined up to support the decision to short change Scotland.

As an excuse for short-changing Scotland, the Tories have even tried to claim the funding is ‘targeted’ in the same way as their City Deals. This is an attempt to pull the wool over people’s eyes.

The SNP will stand up for Scotland and demand a fair share of any funding that is going to Northern Ireland.
