Is Scotland safer under the SNP?

The SNP Scottish Government have taken many steps to ensure Scotland is a safe place to live, and Scotland is now safer with recorded crime at a 43 year low.

Since we took office, non-sexual violent crime is down by 49 per cent, robberies are down 60 per cent and handling offensive weapons – including knife crime – is down by 68 per cent.

Latest figures also show that those aged under 21 who have been convicted of a crime has dropped from 27,832 in 2007 to 8,814 in 2017 – a fall of nearly 70 per cent. Amongst young men, the number of convictions has fallen from 24,526 to 7,596 during the SNP’s time in power.

And the reconviction rate has been reduced to its lowest level in 18 years, thanks to tough community sentences.
