Stephen Gethins is the MP for North East Fife and the SNP spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Europe in the House of Commons. Stephen was first elected at the 2015 General Election and was previously the SNP spokesperson on Europe and shadowed the Department for Exiting the EU. He is a member of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee and is also Vice-Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Golf and the APPG on Climate Change. Stephen is currently an Honorary Vice-President of Energy Action Scotland.
Before his election Stephen worked in Brussels firstly with local authorities from around Europe at the EU Committee of the Regions and then at Scotland Europa helping Scottish businesses and other organisations make the most out of EU membership. He spent a number of years working for international NGOs where he worked on peace-building efforts in the South Caucasus and Western Balkans. Stephen also served as a Special Adviser to the First Minister focusing on Rural Affairs, Energy and Climate Change as well as EU Affairs.
Stephen lives in North East Fife with his family.
