Good news you might have missed

This week we learned that unemployment is going down, more children from deprived backgrounds are going to university and the new M8 will open this month.

Here’s the good news you might have missed.

The unemployment rate in Scotland has fallen – and is now lower than the UK rate.

In the past five years, the gap between gap between young people from the most and least deprived areas going to university has narrowed.

The Scottish Government is now seeking views on putting safe nursing and midwifery staffing levels in law. And we’ve announced a new review into widening access to nursing.

The M8 ‘missing link’ will open this month ahead of schedule – cutting peak journey times between Edinburgh and Glasgow by 20 minutes.

We’re working to make Scotland better still, join us.
