How is the SNP delivering free personal & nursing care?

Unlike other parts of the UK, adults in Scotland who have been assessed as requiring personal care do not pay for this service, regardless of their condition or means. Plus nursing care is also free at the point of delivery.

As the Scottish Government the SNP has increased the rates paid for Free Personal and Nursing Care by 29.5% since April 2020, providing an additional investment of £40m over the last 3 years.

The SNP are committed to developing a sustainable health and social care system that ensures people get the right care, at the right time, in the right place.

The SNP do not want to see the closure of good quality care homes and we understand the concern this causes for residents and their families.

For some people, being in a care home will be the right support – and for those people it is important that high quality care is available which the SNP is committed to deliver.
