Only the SNP is on Scotland’s side
Four weeks out from polling day, the SNP’s candidate Katy Loudon has written an open letter to the people of Hamilton, Larkhall & Stonehouse urging them to vote SNP on 5th June as the party that is always on Scotland’s side.
The SNP under John Swinney is focused on delivering for the people of Scotland and the constituency of Hamilton, Larkhall & Stonehouse by providing hope for a better future.
Cllr Loudon pointed to a number of policies in this week’s Programme for Government including:
-
150,000 extra NHS appointments and procedures
-
100,000 enhanced GP service appointments by March 2026
-
The Cost-of-Living Guarantee with free prescriptions, free tuition and free bus travel for under 22s and over 60s
Katy Loudon said this by-election is an opportunity to “send Labour a message and chart a different course for Scotland.”
In her letter Katy wrote:
Dear Resident,
This past week has seen this SNP deliver for the people of Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse.
Under the leadership of John Swinney, the SNP Scottish Government is improving our NHS with 150,000 additional appointments and procedures and 100,000 more GP appointments.
We are also keeping key costs lower, scrapping peak rail fares and protecting free prescriptions, free tuition and free bus travel for under 22s and over 60s; all while income tax and water bills remain lower than elsewhere in the UK.
However, too many in this community are feeling the full effect of Labour’s failures.
36,000 South Lanarkshire pensioners lost the Winter Fuel Payment last year and from August over 8,000 local children will no longer have access to school bus services.
Those are the very real consequences of Labour’s broken promises, and last week we saw the political consequences.
I share the concern of many at the rise in support for Nigel Farage, but in Scotland, the SNP is stepping in where Labour have let you down and, crucially, offering hope for a better future.
By reinstating universal winter support for pensioners the SNP is showing what is possible when your government listens and takes action on what matters most to you.
In four weeks, you will have the opportunity to send Labour a message and play your part in charting a different course for this community and for Scotland.
I want what’s best for Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse, and as your MSP I will work diligently to make that a reality.
For too long Scotland has been little more than an afterthought to Westminster. On 5th June, vote SNP – a party that is always on Scotland’s side.
Yours sincerely,
Katy Loudon
SNP Candidate in Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse
