Caseworker for Ivan McKee MSP

Requirements:

  • Act as a first point of contact for constituents, responding to enquiries received by email, telephone, letter and in person.
  • Manage and track casework, maintaining accurate and confidential records in line with GDPR and parliamentary standards.
  • Draft correspondence, briefings and responses on a wide range of policy and constituency issues.
  • Liaise with government departments, local authorities and other organisations to progress constituent cases.
  • Support the MSP in planning and delivering constituency meetings, surgeries and community engagement activities.
  • Assist with the day-to-day administration of the office, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  • Contribute to team discussions and support wider parliamentary and community work as required.

Essential Requirements:

  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with close attention to accuracy and detail.
  • A calm, professional and empathetic manner when dealing with sensitive or complex issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team.
  • A genuine interest in public service and understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
  • Competence in using Microsoft Office applications (including Outlook, Word and Excel).

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience of using a case management system.
  • Understanding of the work of the Scottish Parliament and the role of an MSP.
