What is the SNP doing for Scotland’s college students?
The SNP Scottish Government is committed to ensuring investment in our college sector to support students to move on to positive destinations.
Under the SNP, 93% of young people who leave school go on to positive destinations such as work, training or further study, including attendance at Scotland’s colleges.
Colleges are of vital importance in supporting people in their learning journey and ensuring that we fulfil the skills needed in Scotland’s economy.
The draft 2026/27 Scottish Budget is increasing college funding by £70 million in college funding, equivalent to a 10% increase on last year’s budget.
We are committed to a new national approach to skills planning, which will be led by the Scottish Government. Its aim will be to better align post-school education and training pathways with Scotland’s long-term skills needs.
