How is the SNP improving Scotland’s ferry services?

The SNP recognises that our ferry network provides a vital lifeline service.

Since re‑election, the Scottish Government has:

  • Delivered the MV Glen Sannox into service.
  • Bought and deployed an additional vessel, the MV Loch Frisa.
  • Chartered MV Alfred and MV Arrow to provide additional resilience and capacity.
  • Commissioned two new vessels for Islay.
  • Commissioned two new vessels for the Little Minch routes.
  • Progressed procurement to secure seven new small vessels.
  • Progressed investment in key ports and harbours.
  • Confirmed additional revenue funding of £220 million between 2018‑19 and 2024‑25 to support the operation of local authority ferry services.
