What housing support is the SNP giving to disabled Scots?

The SNP are committed to enabling disabled people to live independently in their own homes where possible. This includes the ability to adapt houses to make them suitable for those with reduced mobility and other needs – and financial support that recognises the higher cost of living faced by disabled people.

In the coming year the Scottish Government will issue guidance to local authorities to support them in setting targets for the delivery of wheelchair accessible housing across all tenures within their areas.

The SNP Scottish Government will also work with private house builders and disabled people to increase the numbers of accessible houses for sale using a range of options including the potential to develop standard accessible wheelchair house types. We will involve disabled people in the development work, particularly in assessing the level of demand for accessible homes to buy.
