Bruce Crawford

Firstly, the important stuff I am a grandfather to three wonderful Grandchildren – there might be more one day.  I am a card carrying member of the Tartan Army and if that was not painful enough I am a season ticket holder at the East End Park the home of the mighty PARS. Getting out on my Bicycle is my way letting off steam – I really need to get out on my bike more often.

I was first elected in 1988 as a Councillor on Perth and Kinross Council where I also served as the Council Leader between 1996 and 1999. I was also a Civil servant in the Scottish Office until 1999 when I stood for election to the first Scottish Parliament in 300 years – how could I not?

I was privileged to be an MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife Region between 1999 and 2007.  In 2007 it was an honour to be elected as the Constituency Member for Stirling and appointed as a Minister in the first SNP Government.

Following my re-election in 2011 I was appointed as the Cabinet Secretary for Government Strategy and Parliamentary Business.  In 2012 I retired from my role in Government to concentrate on my Constituency and Parliamentary role.  Since then I have held a number of Committee Convenorships at Holyrood and I am currently the Convener for Finance and Constitution Committee.

I have also served on a number of Public Boards and had a rewarding experience serving for a few years as bench active Justice of the Peace.
