Alex Neil MSP for Airdrie & Shotts has represented the constituency since 2011. In February 2009 he became the Scottish Government Minister for Housing and Communities. In May 2011, Alex was appointed Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure and Capital Investment. Then in September 2012 he became Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing. In November 2014, Alex was appointed to the new post of Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Communities and Pensioners’ Rights. He resigned from the government in May 2016 to concentrate on his constituency work. Alex was re-elected as the MSP for Airdrie & Shotts last year, and currently sits on the Public Audit and Post-Legislative Scrutiny Committee and the Education and Skills Committee. He is also the Co-Convener of the Cross-Party Group on Brexit.
