The SNP will always stand up for young people at every turn and deliver the progressive change that is needed to support more of our young people into work, education or training.
One of the very first acts of the new SNP Government was to restore Scotland’s historic tradition of free education by scrapping tuition fees. We have always maintained that access to education should be based on the ability to learn not on the ability to pay. The government has also ensured that the number of high school leavers in work, training or education is at an all-time high and has exceeded its target to deliver over 25,000 Modern Apprenticeships each year.
Some of the most passionate debates in the run up to the 2014 referendum involved Scotland’s young people. The SNP are proud to have delivered votes for 16 and 17 year olds for future Scottish Parliament and council elections and will continue to press Westminster to do the same for all other elections.
