Christina McKelvie

Christina McKelvie MSP, SNP was elected in 2007 and won the Constituency seat for Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse in 2011. She was returned with an increased majority in 2016. Christina was Chair of the European and External Affairs Committee between 2011 and 2016 and then of the Equality and Human Rights Committee between 2016 and June 2018 when she was promoted.

She currently serves as the Minister for Culture, Europe and International Development.

She has constantly spoken out and on issues including human rights, protection of refugees, and promotion of a fairer and more equal society. Her commitment to values of compassion, care and fairness allow her to­­ be a real force for good across a range of important themes including domestic abuse, opportunities for people with disabilities, mental health care, poverty and people trafficking. Christina is renowned as a committed and effective speaker and doer.
