The SNP warned time is running out for the transfer of powers from Westminster to Holyrood as recommended by the Calman Commission.

The SNP Westminster Group has issued a final challenge to the UK Government to transfer powers to the Scottish Parliament, as recommended by the Calman Commission, including control over the drink drive limit, speed limit, control of air weapons, and responsibility for Scottish elections.

SNP Constitutional Affairs Spokesperson, Pete Wishart MP, condemned the UK Government over its cynical proposals to delay taking forward the recommendations of the Calman Commission.

The SNP has branded the delay in transferring powers over air guns and drink driving as well as other recommendations from the Calman Commission utterly unacceptable and deeply cynical.

The SNP has questioned the UK Government’s commitment to delivering more responsibilities for the Scottish Parliament.

SNP MSP Alasdair Allan has called on Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Tavish Scott MSP to join the SNP’s campaign to have the parts of Calman Report where parties agree implemented immediately.

Freedom of Information request to the UK Ministry of Justice has thrown up confusion over responsibility for the under fire Calman Commission after the UK Government claimed to have no information on its cost.

Commenting on a debate on the Calman Commission proposals in the Scottish Parliament SNP MSP Linda Fabiani said the debate had exposed the report’s true colours and the divisions between the unionist parties.

SNP MSP Anne McLaughlin has criticised proposals in the Calman report to unify charity regulations across Scotland and the rest of the UK.

The financial recommendations of the Calman Commission have been rounded on by former Labour Ministers Sam Galbraith and Brian Wilson who have described them as "incoherent" and said that they take Scotland closer to independence.
