Alex Salmond has only now received a reply from Tory leader David Cameron to a letter asking about funding which has no commitment to seeking the consent of the Scottish Government before introducing a change to the funding arrangements for the Scottish Budget.

SNP Treasury Spokesperson, Stewart Hosie MP, said the UK Government had missed a vital opportunity to reform the Barnett formula. Mr Hosie said fiscal autonomy was the simplest and best solution for the future of Scotland's economy.

Labour's Economy and Skills spokesperson, John Park, has said the SNP Government's calls for a £1 billion funding package to avert recession in Scotland were 'legitimate'.
