SNP MSP Alex Neil – a member of the Scottish Parliament's Finance Committee - has written to the leader of Labour's MSPs highlighting the Chancellor's spending plans which mean a drastic cut in public service.

Labour's Economy and Skills spokesperson, John Park, has said the SNP Government's calls for a £1 billion funding package to avert recession in Scotland were 'legitimate'.

Commenting on reports that Scottish LibDem leader Tavish Scott will call for a 2p cut in the basic rate of income tax SNP MSP Alex Neil, a member of the Scottish Parliament's Finance Committee, challenged him to explain where public spending cuts would be made to pay for the proposal.
