Angus MP, Mike Weir, has accused the UK government of having "warped priorities" as they push through tax changes that will be disastrous for the rural economy in Scotland.

SNP Treasury Spokesman, Stewart Hosie MP, has seized on comments made by the Prime Minister Gordon Brown at his monthly press conference today (Monday) where he warned that removing stimulus from the economy risked a double-dip recession.

The SNP has highlighted an analysis of the latest official statistics, which shows that Scotland has a greater wealth per head than the UK average and that the highest growth anywhere in the United Kingdom was in Scotland in 2008 – the first full year of the SNP Government and also the year the credit crunch hit.

SNP Treasury Spokesperson, Stewart Hosie MP, has hit out at the UK Government after figures released by the SNP highlighted Labour’s legacy of underinvestment in the manufacturing sector and the bad decisions which made the UK’s recession longer an deeper than any other G20 country.

Hitting out at reports that the Chancellor and the Prime Minister were in disagreement about what should be contained in the Pre-Budget Report, SNP MP and Treasury spokesperson, Stewart Hosie said:
