Spring Conference 2008
Welcome to our spring conference microsite
The SNP gather
in Edinburgh later this month as we approach our first anniversary in office,
and look forward to even greater achievements in the coming
years.
Whether it is a freeze on council tax, ending prescription
charges, abolition of bridge tolls, eradication of the graduate endowment,
scrapping business rates for small business, extra police on our streets, extra
teachers in our classrooms, or saving Accident and Emergency services, it is the
SNP government who are showing the way ahead for Scotland, and proving that real
change can be delivered.
And at local government level, last year’s
elections delivered a fundamental wind of change throughout the corridors of
power in council chambers. With more councillors than any other party, the SNP
is now represented in every mainland authority, and either leads or shares power
in twelve local authority areas.
Our two-day gathering, on 19 and 20
April, will feature debates, motions and speeches. It will be an exciting
opportunity to discuss the next steps towards our nation’s Independence, and for
us to hear from our Cabinet Secretaries, as well as the Leader and Depute
Leader, about the agenda that is being driven forward by the SNP.
