Mark McDonald MSP

Biography:

Elected as a Councillor in 2007 with the most first preference votes of any candidate, Mark represented the ward of Dyce, Bucksburn and Danestone until he stepped down in May 2012.During his time as councillor, Mark was the Deputy Leader of the SNP Group on Aberdeen City Council,  Vice Convenor of the Housing & Environment Committee and Vice Convenor of Grampian Joint Fire Board. 

Previously, Mark worked as a researcher for Richard Lochhead MSP, Maureen Watt MSP and Nigel Don MSP. 

Born in 1980 in Inverurie, Mark gained a politics degree from Dundee University and a postgraduate Masters in Strategic Studies from the University of Aberdeen. He resides in Dyce with his wife and two children. 

Mark was elected as an MSP in May 2011 as a regional MSP for the North East of Scotland before resigning in order to successfully contest the Aberdeen Donside by-election in June 2013.
