SNP MP demands Tory apology for anti-Scottish remarks
MP for North Tayside, Mr Pete Wishart MP, has tabled a motion in the House of Commons calling on the Conservative MP, Dominic Grieve, who described Scotland as being unattractive to apologise.
Pete Wishart MP said:
“These anti- Scottish remarks reveal the true nature of the Conservatives and their narrow minded and short-sighted immigration policies. It also goes to show just how out of touch with Scotland the Conservatives really are.
“Scotland is a great place to live with a lot to attract those who want to live in the country as well as tourists. We should be taking every opportunity to talk Scotland up not talk our country down.
“The Tories were bad news for Scotland during their eighteen miserable years in Government and these remarks show just how unfit they are to represent Scotland today.”

Pete Wishart MP submitted the following EDM to the House of Commons today:
Anti-Scottish Comments by a Conservative MP
“This house condemns comments made about Scotland by Tory spokesperson Dominic Grieve while trying to defend the Conservative Party’s narrow minded and short-sighted immigration policy; disagrees profoundly with Mr Grieve that ‘Scotland is not a very attractive place for people to come to settle’ and calls on the leader of the Conservative Party to require Mr Grieve to apologise to the people of Scotland.”
