£3 Million Investment in Borders Affordable Homes

An investment of more than £3 million in new affordable homes in Kelso, Eyemouth and Jedburgh was announced today.

Communities Minister Stewart Maxwell approved the new schemes as he officially opened the Eildon Housing Association's newly-built Mossilee housing development in Galashiels.

The £5million development of 60 affordable homes was completed last year with the aid of Communities Scotland funding.

Mr Maxwell also met representatives of registered social landlords (RSLs) and Scottish Borders Council at Eildon Housing Associations headquarters in Melrose, before holding discussions on housing with regional MSPs.

He said:

"I have begun the process of opening a dialogue with as many people as possible across Scotland to look at how we can increase the number of decent, affordable homes we build in the most cost-effective ways. This visit will be an important part of that conversation in the Scottish Borders."
