Biography
Dr Ian McKee is well known for his popular health articles in the Scotsman and the Edinburgh Evening News.
After serving five years in the Royal Air Force he has spent the remaining time as a doctor in the Sighthill and Wester Hailes areas of Edinburgh.
Ian also lives in the Edinburgh Pentlands constituency. As well as being a GP, he has set up a small publishing company and gained wide experience of the problems faced by small businesses.
He works to support many local organisations and is a trustee of the Lord Provost of Edinburgh's OneCity Trust, founded to fight social exclusion in the city.
He was SNP candidate for Edinburgh Central in 1999 and 2001 and Edinburgh Pentlands in 2003.
Married, with three children and two step children, Ian was awarded the MBE last year for services to medicine and healthcare in Edinburgh.
