‘I have always believed that Scotland should be an independent country, making its own decisions and taking responsibility for solving its own problems. Whether we want to improve our environment and quality of life, or create a fairer society at home and abroad, independence is necessary.
Devolution has given us greater control over our own affairs and the Scottish Parliament has introduced some very progressive legislation from free personal care, to the ban on smoking in public places, to the commitment to end homelessness. However we could do so much more to improve the lives of ordinary people in Scotland with the increased powers and prosperity that Independence will bring us.
Over the course of my life I have seen Scottish Independence rise further up the political agenda, as more and more people come to understand that in order to make progress we need to move on to Independence. It's time we did.’
