What’s wrong with the way we’re governed just now?
Here are just a few examples of how the UK continues to fail Scotland:
When power is exercised close to the people it always has a better chance of being exercised well. Government by remote control from London is never going to be relevant to Scottish needs, but a Scottish government with full powers would be able to make policies designed to solve distinctive Scottish problems.
- Poverty levels in Scotland remain unacceptably high – particularly among children and pensioners
- Scotland suffers from low economic growth and a declining population
- Dangerous nuclear weapons are stored in Scotland
- We were dragged into an illegal war in Iraq, against the wishes of the Scottish people
