Glasgow North East by-election - 12 November
David Kerr is 36 years old. Until a few weeks ago he was a television reporter on BBC Scotland. He’s now standing as the SNP candidate in the Glasgow North East by-election. So why did he make the switch?
"Well, this is where my family come from. It’s where I started out in life. So, it’s a place and a people I have a deep affection for.
“At the BBC I saw how Labour had taken this area for granted. They were letting down our communities and keeping quiet about it.
“Sure, it’s an area with some big problems - but that’s far outweighed by an even greater potential. That’s why I want to be your full time, activeMP.
“I will speak out for our communities and against the gangs and against the council cuts for a safer community.
“After just two years, SNP investment is transforming Glasgow.
- Record sums for the city – putting a stop to Labour’s council tax hikes
- Record numbers of police on the beat to make local streets safer.
- Massive upgrades to the M80 and M74.
- New hospitals at Stobhill and the Southern General.
- New homes, jobs and facilities to make a success of the Commonwealth Games.
“That’s billions of pounds being pumped into the city in a massive regeneration drive. But there’s more to do.
“Labour has been in power here since 1935. Now, more than ever, we need a louder, stronger voice.
“I’ll be working flat out between now and polling day to earn your trust.
“Together, we’ve got what it takes to get a better deal for our community.”
