SNP step up campaign in final 24 hours
With just one day of campaigning left in the European elections, SNP President and European candidate Ian Hudghton said the party was taking nothing for granted as they continued to campaign across the country,
Mr Hudghton added a vote for the SNP would "send a message" to Westminster in advance of the SNP’s call for a General Election next week:
"Together, the people of Scotland and the SNP have what it takes to send a message to Westminster and give Scotland a strong voice in Europe.
"SNP MPs in London have lodged a motion which will force the UK Parliament to own up to the sorry state it has found itself in and go to the people in a General Election.
"While the SNP Scottish Government is working for Scottish communities and creating investment in jobs, training and new construction, the UK Labour Government is limping from one scandal to another, totally obsessed with itself.
"The whole Westminster system has ground to a halt. The only way to sort this mess out is for Parliament to be dissolved and for the people to have their say in a General Election.
"SNP success tomorrow will force the UK Government to act on key Scottish demands - such as unlocking the £150m Fossil Fuel Levy – as well as forcing the pace on an early General Election, and delivering a strong Scottish voice in Europe.
"We have fought a positive campaign focused on Scottish jobs and recovery but we are taking nothing for granted as we continue to take our message to the people of Scotland right up until the poll."
