European elections - Thursday 4 June

SNP leader Alex Salmond has put the emphasis on jobs and the economy when he officially launched the SNP's European election campaign.

Mr Salmond pledged that SNP MEPs who are elected in the June 4 vote will work to protect Scottish jobs and to promote economic recovery.

"The SNP is the only party offering a strong voice for Scotland in Europe," Mr Salmond said.

"Our efforts are focused on protecting jobs, promoting Scotland's economic recovery and building Scottish success, now and with independence.

"We will continue to work with others at home and partners across Europe to seek out opportunities for Scottish businesses and Scotland's economy."
