SNP have 'best answers' say Glenrothes voters
2008-09-23
According to the ICM poll carried out in the Glenrothes constituency 56% of those expressing a preference believe the SNP is the political party for coming up with the best answers to the problems facing Scotland today–more than double Labour who were only on 26%.
Commenting on the poll findings SNP central Fife MSP Tricia Marwick said:
"This poll backs up what we are finding on the doorstep – and what Labour has found in their expensive focus groups.
"People in Glenrothes constituency know that it is the SNP that has
delivered real benefits for them and their families in the last 12 months by scrapping tolls on the Forth and Tay bridges, investing in new police and reducing business rates and prescription charges.
"In contrast Gordon Brown's Labour government has done nothing while people in Fife have felt the burden of rising food, fuel and energy costs.
"The SNP also has a strong local candidate in Peter Grant who, in less than 18 months, has brought real improvements to Fife by freezing the council tax, turning round Fife Council from a precarious position, saving libraries from Labour closures, investing in education and in Fife's future with funding for sports centres and economic development across the area.
"In July people in Glasgow East voted to send a message to Gordon Brown – now it's the turn of Glenrothes."
