Compston, Hayman & Howson back SNP

Two of Scotland’s leading acting talents and one of Scotland’s leading artists have today given their support to SNP Candidate Cllr John Mason in the Glasgow East by-election.

Martin Compston, star of Sweet Sixteen and Red Road gave his public backing to the SNP in an election for the first time. He has been joined by Trial and Retribution star David Hayman and artist Peter Howson.

Martin Compston said:

"A victory for the SNP candidate John Mason will send a message from the people of the East End of Glasgow that they have had enough and want change for the better.

"This by-election is a real opportunity for the people of Glasgow East to send a message direct to the UK Government that it time for a candidate that will stand up for their interests. Good luck John!"

He was supported by fellow actor and Trial and Retribution star David Hayman who said;

"The SNP victory last year has brought an enormous sense of optimism and hope to the people of Scotland. In their first year of office the SNP has already made enormous improvements to the quality of life in our country.

“At last we have a party that truly represents the people of Scotland. A vote for the SNP is a vote for a better future.

"What have 11 years of New Labour done for the people of Glasgow East? The same as 18 years of Conservatives, absolutely nothing. The years of neglect have to stop now. It is time for a radical change. I wish John Mason and the SNP my best wishes for victory next Thursday."

Peter Howson, who produced some of his most celebrated works whilst based in his studio in the East End’s Gallowgate also offered his support.

Peter Howson said:

"I give John Mason and the SNP all my support. The Scottish Government has been working really hard since they came into office and have made a real difference in Scotland, which has left me really impressed, strengthening my support for the SNP and the vision of Scottish independence.

"I think that John Mason will carry on this good work in the Westminster parliament, as a strong Scottish voice standing up for the people in the East of Glasgow. So good luck John, I am really rooting for you!"
