scotlands carbon foot print v london (not the whole of england)

Why is it that the carbon footprint from our little country is less than the capital of england, and yet here again we have two scotsmen at westminster penalising us with raised green stealth taxes on our cars. Is it not about time we had our own dvla and set our vehicle excise rates.

P.s  I drive a small car so wont be affected but thats not the point.

Tax on Emissions

I still believe that the fairest way of taxing high polluters is simply to tax fuel and remove "car tax discs" and other forms of direct/indirect car taxation. The UK givernment seem to think that would be too difficult but them seem to be maing a good job of taxing fuel thus far!

abolish tax discs

I think that tax discs are an unfair way to tax drivers. tax should be purely through fuel. people should be entitled to buy cars as fuel thirsty as they wish but leave them parked up. why should they have to pay high rates of duty? fuel is the fairest way to tax the biggest polluters and that way people haveo have a choice. taxing car owners who already have bought the car is very unfair and pointless. after all the cars will still be on the road for years until they are scrapped.
