About our campaign

High oil prices mean record windfall revenues are pumping into the UK Treasury - £15 billion in total, £5 billion more than expected just a few months ago. They are seeing a big gain while families, households and businesses across Scotland are feeling a lot of pain. That is why we need a new approach, with Scotland getting a fair share of the windfall oil wealth.

Oil revenues currently go to Westminster and Britain decides on things like road fuel tax. The SNP believes the Scottish Parliament would do a better job. With the oil wealth, we would be able to reduce fuel costs.

And we could create an oil fund so that the current windfall is invested for Scotland. The Scottish Government has now asked the UK government for just 10% of the windfall gains - £500 million - to set up this fund. We are asking you to back this campaign, because ultimately it is YOUR OIL.

Record Revenues

Based on average oil prices during the financial year to date, the UK Government has received an additional £4.6 billion in additional North Sea revenue over and above what it expected in the 2008 Budget

And since North Sea oil was discovered £250 billion in revenues have gone to the UK - it is now Scotland's time to receive a share.

Crippling Fuel Costs

It is ironic that Scotland is a huge exporter of oil and gas – inside the world’s top ten - and yet we face the highest motor-fuel prices in Europe.

It’s time to give the Scottish Parliament the ability to act, so we can help hard-pressed industries, communities and motorists.
