Labour Party Conference

just watched Brown's big speech at Labour conference. Anyone else find it hilarious the first argument against independence is "but people have family in England"?!
Is he really trying to make people believe that in an independent Scotland, you wouldn't be able to visit relatives in other countries?

Never mind Brown's argument. What about Wendy claiming she's a "perfect 10" as leader of the Labour group in the Scottish Parliament?!
Seriously, if Alex said that, he'd probably get away with it. But Wendy?
there a joke
Labour are obviosly
Labour are obviosly struggling to cope with the success and support for the S.N.P.
If they listen to the statistics then they will realise that there are more people in England who want to seperate from the UK then there is in Scotland.
And if they took the time to read what First Minister Salmond has in mind for an Independent Scotland then they would notice that their would be no borders between England or Scotland.
Scotland would also remain within the EU and that would give people living South of the Border to travel back and fourth for work and family.
Bring on another Scottish Elections. The S.N.P. would be sure to win more then they did last May.
Words of caution
While the Labour Party does seem to be floundering here in Scotland as well as down south I would like to remind everyone of two very important points.Point one we have still not come near to obtaining independance and point two, Scots do not like politicians or parties that gloat.
While the First Minister is contantly sniped at by the Labour party he remains in control and refuses to be drawn into outright slagging matches. For this he deserves praise but we still have a lot to achieve and this will require cool heads and hard work.
The areas where we are being attacked by Labour are being engineered by the Labour party in Westminster. The recent confrontation concerning council taxes is a clear example.
We as party members and activists should be letting the public know that this is the case.We still need to win over large sections of the population where the Labour messages are accepted without question.
Now is not the time to sit on our laurels but a time for hard campaigning at all levels.
I did find Mahatma
I did find Mahatma Broon's speech funny at first but later its offensiveness and stupidity struck me.
So what about families in England? This is a disgusting attack by Broon. I live in England and am married to an English lass. Our first child is ten days old. When independence comes her granny in Sutherland will not think of her as foreign or English or in any way different. She will think of her as her grandaughter just as she does right now just as she and I think of our Canadian and American relatives as family not as foreigners. Family are family no matter where they are born and I believe that all Scots will take that approach.
No wonder Labour are in trouble when they come out with this tosh.

Browns Speach
Its scare mungering by the labour government. They have no ideas or any comprehention about what Scotland needs or wants. The best thing that could happen to us would be to be independant from England. The Labour government think that this country would fall apart if we seperated from England how wrong can you be. This country has been at the fore front of invention we can stand on our own feet. Gordon Brown only has eyes on our oil how terrible is the we have ship it to England then gordon brown has the cheek to sell it back to us. GET A GRIP GORDON!!!!!!1
