Economic growth report highlights need for Yes

Commenting on the article in the Sunday Herald which states that a new report by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) is to conclude that, within the Union, Scotland is forecast to have the lowest growth of the four countries of the UK, Marco Biagi, MSP for Edinburgh Central and a member of the Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee, said:

"This report, from some of the most senior business and trade union leaders in the UK, admits that Scotland's future under the Westminster system is bleak.

"Lower growth than the rest of the UK and poorer employment prospects is what a No vote in September would mean.

"Scotland is the 14th richest country in the OECD - ahead of the UK in 18th place. Only with control of our own affairs, only with the powers of an independent Scotland, can we deliver the fair and prosperous future for our nation we all want. Without full powers in Scotland, jobs and growth are under threat - that is why a Yes vote is vital."
