16 year old becomes SNP's 16,000th member

The SNP has displaced Labour as the most popular party in Scotland with 16,000 members.

Welcoming 16 year old Scott Campbell as the party’s 16,000th member SNP Depute Leader and Scotland’s Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said:

 “With 16,000 members all working to make Scotland better, the SNP is now the largest party in Scotland and is increasingly the natural choice of those wanting to build a better Scotland.

“Scott is just one of thousands of people who have joined the party in the last five years looking to play their part in Scotland’s future.

"We are winning new members and public support as voters recognise thesuccesses of the SNP in Government and our commitment to make Scotland smarter, fairer and wealthier.

“Our task now is to continue to grow this support up to and beyond next year’s Holyrood elections as we invite people across the country to be part of better.

16 year old Scott Campbell said:

“I’ve joined the SNP because I support independence as the best way to make Scotland better and I like what the SNP are doing in Government.

“Even at 16 it is plain to see that Scotland gets a raw deal from Westminster and from the Union.”
