Cross party support over health board funding

SNP MSP Keith Brown today welcomed Parliament’s
opposition to Labour’s irresponsible accusations over health board funding as
parties refused to support a distorted attack by Labour’s Cathy Jamieson on NHS
finances in Scotland.

Speaking after the vote in which Labour failed to
win the support of any other party Keith Brown said;

“The Scottish Parliament has united to vote down
Cathy Jamieson’s campaign of distortion and fiddled figures.

“This is a humiliation for Cathy Jamieson in her
first major campaign as Labour’s health spokesperson.  Today’s vote leaves her
credibility in tatters with her lack of knowledge of Scotland’s NHS.

“Labour has too easily forgotten their own record
of closing accident and emergency departments, lengthy waiting lists and hidden

“In contrast only last month the Cabinet Secretary
announced additional £90 million of funding to cut waiting times and £15 million
to help meet fuel bills.

“The SNP Government’s decisions to save Accident
and Emergency and Cancer services from closure, to cut prescription charges, to
invest in tackling hospital acquired infection and to build a new hospital for
Glasgow in the public sector show it is the SNP that is supporting the NHS in
its 60th year.”
