Commenting on the reports that GM crops from a farm near Munlochy have been secretly removed and disposed of in a landfill site in England the SNP Shadow Environment Minister Mr Bruce Crawford MSP said:

"It appears that Ross Finnie gave the go ahead for an operation to remove GM crops from a farm near Munlochy and transport them hundreds of miles to a landfill site in England.

"So much for the open and transparent government that this Lab/Lib Executive promised to the Scottish people.

"Ross Finnie is quick to tell us that GM crops are safe however when it comes to the disposal of crops it is surrounded by secrecy and mystery and has all the hallmarks of a military operation.

"I will be tabling questions in the Scottish Parliament tomorrow demanding answers from the Minister."
