Death Of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother

Commenting on the death of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother today [Saturday], Scottish National Party Westminster leader Mr Alex Salmond MP said:

"The Queen Mother gave a lifetime of public service, and will be much missed.

"The Queen Mother was the one member of the Royal Family who had the real common touch. For example, at the unveiling of the memorial to the Piper Alpha victims in Aberdeen over ten years ago - when she was already into her nineties - she took the time to speak to every one of the bereaved families, despite the extreme heat of the day.

"For that - and countless other similar acts - the Queen Mother will leave an enormous gap in our public life."
