Drew Hendry

Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch & Strathspey

Drew Hendry is the current Member of Parliament for Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch & Strathspey having been first elected in 2015, then again in 2017 and 2019. He is The SNP candidate for Inverness, Skye and West Ross-Shire in the upcoming 2024 General Election.

Drew currently serves as the SNP’s Westminster Spokesperson for the Economy, having previously served as The SNP Westminster Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, on Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and on Transport.

Prior to his election to Westminster, Drew was the Councillor for Aird and Loch Ness, Leader of the SNP Highland Council group (2011-2015), and Leader of the Highland Council (2012-2015).

As Council Leader, Drew oversaw the implementation of the Living Wage at the Highland Council, established the Science Skills Academy, the introduction of localised committees, and was a key architect of the £315M Inverness City Region Deal.

Before entering political life, Drew worked across retail and business, and founded Inverness-based teclan Ltd, the first private sector company in Inverness to commit to paying all staff the Living Wage.

Drew is passionate about social justice and equality, and was recently awarded the Patchwork Foundation MP of the Year Award for his exceptional work with under-represented and disadvantaged communities in the Highlands. He is also an Ambassador for Inverness Women’s Aid, White Ribbon Scotland and has been the Honorary Consul to Romania since 2012. In 2017 he was presented with the National Order for Faithful Service of the Rank of Knight by the Ambassador or Romania, in recognition of his work.
